Tropical Storm Idalia has formed in the Caribbean and is expected to become a hurricane before reaching Florida. The storm is projected to traverse the Gulf of Mexico and approach northwestern Florida, posing a threat of storm surge and hurricane-force winds. Meteorologists suggest that Idalia could reach the level of a major hurricane with sustained winds of at least 111 mph.
