The United States is nearing its borrowing limit, and in order to avoid a default, the government is resorting to "extraordinary measures." These measures include suspending payments to retirement, disability, and health benefit funds for federal employees, and suspending the reinvestment of maturing government bonds in retirement savings accounts of government workers.
